Aljazeera have re-cut Max’s 2007 film about Iceland with new intro and a wrap up from Samah that you must stay tuned for!
Wondering why we have not filmed a follow up for the network? You can’t say we didn’t warn him . . . .
Qatari Sheikh’s 5pc stake in Kaupthing is ‘a vote of confidence’
The announcement last week that Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al-Thani, part of the governing family of Qatar, had spent more than £150m to pick up a 5pc stake in Kaupthing was intended to be a vote of confidence in the company.
One week later, the bank collapsed into a whole heap of nothing . . .

Freaky Friday; Gold bottoming-out? At this rate, I think I’ll buy when it hits $680.oz! -not.
Seriously, Max, if the bottom is going to fall out soon, why should I follow B.Chapman’s advice and pay-down all my credit cards? I was thinking these very real forms of credit-default-swaps WERE the poor man’s only true hedge against hyperinflation.
There appears to be an average, to well below average yield in Delta Cotton, and I believe these futures are due for an increase, a-la 1929, as one historic analysis revealed lately.

The stand out for me (so far) regarding the fall out from the Iceland situation: The UK councils which find themselves strapped for cash were due to be investigated by the Audit Commission until the Audit Commission realized that it too had 10 million stashed in the same accunts.

In Iceland they will finally take to the streets tomorrow:

(perhaps).
I doubt they’ll go hungry. It’s similar to Argentina, but it’s not Argentina - it’s just so ridiculously small. Some combinations of IMF + Euroland + (Scans minus Scans who hate them) + dodgy Russian mafia will cough up enough to keep them from scavenging moss.
My prediction is, however, contingent on having our first quiet weekend of the Autumn.
Others on death watch list seem to be:
*Ukraine
*Hungary
- waiting for Baltics, personally - can’t be long now. ..And do you think Estonia would go cap in hand to Moksva? lol “Nikogda!”

Why in the world would Iceland go hungry? We have over 1 ton per year of fish. We have good agriculture that can supply both meat and vegetables. For most part the corn products is missing. So hunger is not an option.
May be some English products, but that will only because I think many Icelanders will not be buy British products any time soon, after being treated with terror law.
